The Archway Guesthouse is a comfortable Victorian quality guest house, tastefully furnished throughout and is operated by Denis and Anita, a professional couple, who have lived and worked in several countries.

- Guests are welcome to use the dining table in the breakfast room. There are lots of maps, local tourist information, guide books and some board games available.
- The house is entirely non-smoking and has been quality assessed by Cumbria Tourism, a Visit England local assessment scheme.
- Our front rooms have distant mountain views of Coniston Old Man, Wetherlam, Crinkle Crags, Scafell Pike, Great Gable and the Langdale Pikes.
Location: We are located in a quiet street of Windermere village just 300 metres from the train station, shops, restaurants and pubs.

Windermere is a great location to form a base to cover the whole of the Lake District, making us an ideal single stop location for visiting the entire area.
Getting About
There is a great public transport system – buses and lake steamers are really useful and make a break without a car viable. For guests traveling by coach or train, cars and mountain bikes may be hired locally or we can arrange minibus tours of the area. Guidebooks, maps and details of local walks are available. We have great suggestions for circular tours by car which enable you to get a real feel for the area quickly. Lake cruises, bike hire, and mini bus tours are all available from the village.
Windermere is within easy reach of Kendal, Ambleside, Keswick and Grasmere and is the ideal touring base for Beatrix Potter and William Wordsworth country.
